LoDo & Downtown Denver News by Ashley E. Underell. October 2002."
Furniture
designers Andrew Muggleton and Michael Vanderweed have a few things
in common. They are both skilled in their field and would like you to
experience their innovative and unique furniture at Furniture on the
Park from Oct. 2S through 26 (Friday and Saturday) at the Promenade
Lofts at 2100 16th St., from 4 to 9 p.m.
Muggleton and Vanderweed design high-end, custom-made furniture that
is unique and eye-catching. Even the most talented shopper will not
find these designs to be anything they have come across in even the
more exclusive furniture stores; it's in a class of its own.

Muggleton works with exotic woods and creates beautiful curves, which
he manipulates over a form. He has been working as a furniture designer
and maker for four years now and his clients live in Denver, Beaver
Creek, Vail, Boulder, Steamboat Springs and Chicago; he has even sent
pieces back to clients in England where he is originally from.
Muggleton
designs his work in CAD (Computer Aided Design) and works in tandem
with an engineering degree to create such original work. His work has
been showcased at the SOFA (Sculptural Objects and Functional Art) exposition
in Chicago, and has received best in show for two years in a row at
the Boulder downtown art festival. He currently has work on display
at Pismo gallery in Cherry Creek.

I asked them how their styles differed.
"Mike accents his metals with wood, and I accent woods with metals,"
said Muggleton.
"A lot of the work is specific for a customer, a client can design
what they want, or what they would like to have in their space, and will
custom design for the them," said Vanderweed.
The show will be held in a 3,500-square-foot penthouse loft with an impeccable
view of the city. The benefit of doing a show like this in a loft is it
gives the consumer a real chance to view how a piece will look in their
own setting. There will be 17 original pieces ranging in price; everything
from sofa
tables, beds, chaise lounges, coffee tables, desks and much more. There
will be wine tasting courtesy of Denver Cru, Denver's newest wine store,
and food provided by the Grassroots Market.
Parking is available at the Promenade lofts and on Little Raven Street.
If you are coming from LoDo, it's a short walk over the new Millennium
Bridge; the entrance is next to the Community Bank of Colorado. Sponsors
include Grass Roots Market, Denver Cru, Community Banks of Colorado and
East West Urban Management.
Pieces purchased during the show will be delivered free of charge. Andrew
and Michael will have their own information tables where people can discuss
new ideas for future private commissions.
